Belated Thanks

Catholic New Media Awards

I seem to be about fifteen paces behind in the internet world these days. Please accept my belated thanks for nominating this blog, In the Heart of my Home, for several Catholic New Media Awards.
~People's Choice
~Best Blog By a Woman
~Best Written Blog
~Most Spiritual
Voting is well underway, but remains open through the end of the month. You can register to vote here (only takes a moment). I'm particularly excited by the inclusion of podcasts this year. Nothing makes it easier to stay with a household task than listening to a good podcast while working. And there is a treasure trove of podcasts nominated for these awards. Award lists are always great places to find, well, "new media." Take a few moments to click around. Good stuff there!

Lightning Strikes How Many Times?

At least three, apparently.

This is just a real quick post before Mike leaves with his laptop to let you know that my computer was once again hit by lightning. (Before Chris Kelly starts packing to retrieve info from a fried hard drive, let me relate the happy news that it only got the router this time-whew!). But, I have no internet access until Verizon comes to visit. So, if you're waiting on a reply to an email, please be patient.

Stay safe! Those are some wicked storms.

I finally have opened bank accounts for all my children who did not have them. This news should thrill people who gave my children checks last Christmas and wonder why they haven't been cashed.

I haven't spent more than an hour a day online since this time last week. If I owe you an email, now you know why. I've opted to sleep in, fold laundry, cook complicated meals, and...

I got up this morning, drove an hour out to our favorite farm and let the kids pick eleven quarts strawberries. We managed to return home before the rains began at noon. And then we spent the rainy afternoon making pies and endless jars of freezer jam.
Only seventeen days until cherry picking:-)

What are your successes this week? This is a great exercise in holding ourselves accountable and patting ourselves on the backs. Mothering and homemaking don't have built in performance reviews and bonuses. The  internet can be a source of support and encouragement. Let's encourage one another in our small successes.I'm very late to the party, but you can still share too at Faith and Family Live!
