Holy Saturday

"They took the body of Jesus and bound it with burial cloths along with spices, according to the Jewish burial custom. Now in the place where he had been crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb, in which no one had yet been buried. So they laid Jesus there because of the Jewish preparartin day; for the tomb was close by."

John 19: 40-42

Watch and wait with Christ today. See the dark, feel the cold, and smell the spices. Wait for his wounds to heal and his body to rise again with new life. Wait for victory. Wait for triumph. Wait for joy.

Good Friday

"So they took Jesus, and carrying the cross himself he went out to what is call the Place of the Skull, in Hebrew, Golgotha. There they crucified him, and with him two others, one on either side, with Jesus in the middle."

John 19: 17-18

Be with Christ today. Stand beside the cross and unite your sufferings with his. Compare your wounds with his and see that they are small, but give them to him anyway. Compare your strength to his and see that you are weak, but give yourself to him anyway. Walk with him, bleed with him, die with him today.

Fast. Pray. Give.

Fast

After a hot breakfast , take a walk. Leave the dishes, the routine, the things on your to-do list. Take everyone with you, but tell them it's a silent walk. See how long you can all just listen to the outdoors.

Pray

Set a timer to go off every hour today. Every time it rings, offer a prayer of thanksgiving for the gift of your husband.

Give

Do one of "his" chores today. Don't tell him you did it.
