when wishes come true (lots of wishes; all on the same night)

When she was just a tiny girl, squeezed in the middle of five brothers, she danced in her first Nutcracker. Keenan Kampa was the Sugar Plum Fairy. And Mary Beth set her sweet five-year-old heart on one goal. She wanted to be the Sugar Plum Fairy.

Her very first dance teacher gave her a special pointe shoe, saved from her own dancing days. And on it one word:

And this boy? The one who idolizes his big brother? He'll be true to his word and honor his promise. He will play The Prince. He'll desperately wish that princes were allowed cell phones so that he could watch ESPN while he sits on his throne. Because, you see, sometimes two different dreams come true At. The. Very. Same. Time.

While Kingdom of Sweets comes alive tonight at home, Patrick will be playing in the College Cup semi-finals in Philadelphia. One game from a national championship.
